Sew Much Ado: Tutorial: Felt Flash Cards / Memory Game

I can't WAIT to get started on these little guys. I have the template already printed out, I just have to run downstairs and get them off the printer. It is, however, 9:45, and our AC/Furnace is being COMPLETELY replaced tomorrow, so I may just wait until later to get all this done. I'll post pics of my progress & the finished product.

Christmas Stockings, part 2

So I've finished the stockings for my brother's family.
It didn't take me quite as long as I thought it would, and once I got the hang of it, I sped right through the process.

The most challenging part for me was coming up with little touches to make each stocking unique. I think I did a pretty fair job, if I do say so myself! :-)

Christmas Stockings

Because I know my family doesn't know about this blog, I'm posting this project now. I'm not worried they'll see it & the surprise will be spoiled. My brother & his family need Christmas stockings. I made my daughter's and my niece's stockings last year, and they were okay. With what I know now, I'd make them differently. It's okay. Sewing is definitely a learning experience.

They're not super-cutesy or traditional when it comes to style. They're all pretty outdoorsy & casual. Very comfortable.

Enter THIS post...
I'll have to post pics when I'm done, but they'll look similar to this one, minus the feathers, plus red ric-rac. My lining/cuff is even a similar print!

I'll also have to figure out how to un-bold and un-italicize this last bit. Ugh.

Oh. And, I think I have tendonitis, so typing + sewing w/ a wrist brace isn't too fun.

Blah to Beautiful!

So, when Gerald and I got married, we registered for our dishes at Target. Big spenders, I know. We even picked a reasonable set, where you could get a set of 4 plates in a pack. Basic white, sort-of fluted edges (not sure if they're technically 'fluted' but whatever). Once we opened all of our gifts, we received one pack. As in, 4 plates. No bowls, no mugs, no salad plates. Four. Big. Plates. It wasn't an issue when it was just the 2 of us, or when 2 people would come to visit us. Now, it's a different story. We've got a new set of dishes, but I didn't want to Goodwill our "Wedding Plates."

Enter, this idea.

I found some pretty scrapbook paper on sale @ AC Moore. I cut the circles to fit the inside of the plate, not the rim. A little Mod Podge...

and I had myself a pretty wall hanging.

***I can do math. There are only 3 plates. One of them broke the other day and didn't get the pretty paper treatment.***

So... what do you think?

Mason Jar Frappuccino

I had these tasty treats at a birthday party for a friend's son. Oh. My. Word. Yum!

So, since I made an extra-big batch of coffee this morning and only drank one cup, guess what's going in my fridge for later!

Thanks for the inspiration, PW & Daisy!

*EDITED TO ADD*
So, I made them and YUM! I used my pint jars (2 cups for those non-canners out there) and that gives me 8 ounces of yummy caffeine goodness.

hand-braided rug

I've really started to love this blog/store and I saw this link from my facebook profile. Maybe I can do something like this this winter? It also sounds like a great "quilting bee" project to complete with a great friend. Either way, I think I may have a rag-rug for the kitchen in the future.

*note to self: I think I'd want to zig-zag it back and forth to make it more rectangular. Think about that.

First Things First

Hey y'all. So, I've got about 4 bookmark folders on 3 laptops, and I'm all about the inspiration, not so much on the execution.

So... enter this blog.

It's more like a visual reminder/showcase of what I'd like to make, whether it's painting, sewing, decorating, or even cooking/baking. Anything to make my home more home-y, really.

I'll be blogging mainly for me, but if you wind up here, reading my stuff, PLEASE leave me a comment. I'd love to hear who is here, and maybe get some inspiration from YOU!
