So, when Gerald and I got married, we registered for our dishes at Target. Big spenders, I know. We even picked a reasonable set, where you could get a set of 4 plates in a pack. Basic white, sort-of fluted edges (not sure if they're technically 'fluted' but whatever). Once we opened all of our gifts, we received one pack. As in, 4 plates. No bowls, no mugs, no salad plates. Four. Big. Plates. It wasn't an issue when it was just the 2 of us, or when 2 people would come to visit us. Now, it's a different story. We've got a new set of dishes, but I didn't want to Goodwill our "Wedding Plates."
Enter, this idea.
I found some pretty scrapbook paper on sale @ AC Moore. I cut the circles to fit the inside of the plate, not the rim. A little Mod Podge...
and I had myself a pretty wall hanging.
***I can do math. There are only 3 plates. One of them broke the other day and didn't get the pretty paper treatment.***
So... what do you think?
Hi Ginny!
ReplyDeleteHeh - Hey Lauren. I guess you've visited my blog more recently than I have.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! I want to frame pretty plates to hang in our dining room and this is a great idea. I think I'm going to go dig through the Goodwill shelves for some lovelies with pretty rims like this - and I can use scrapbook paper from the same set I made our wedding invitations out of. What a perfectly gorgeous idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I just found your blog while looking for christmas stocking patterns (yours turned out great!). I've been looking for some wall art for our dining room and I think this might be it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!
